The Verdict

The G440 K may be easier to hit than the G440 Max, which I LOVE…a lot. ( And still highly recommend)

And that’s saying something. I think we’re talking 1 and 1a. I am sure it launches consistently higher than the G440 Max too.

Beginners…High Handicappers…Golfers who only care about hitting it longer and straighter need to look at the G440 K first.

I clocked drives with the rear weight in the Neutral, Draw, and Fade positions

G440 w/ Neutral Rear Weight

This is my favored weight position. My dispersion was much tighter and ball flight was more consistent.

G440 w/ Draw Rear Weight

Ball flight was more erratic and dispersion was worst with rear weight in this position for me.

G440 w/ Fade Rear Weight

I could play with the weight in this position. In fact, I did by accident during my round. I didn’t figure this out until I hit the 13th hole. (I moved it to neutral when I noticed)

Launch and peak height jumped noticeably. Dispersion was good, but not as good as with weight in neutral position.

Bag Appeal: (4) I find the G440 K head shape and sole graphics attractive. The brownish carbon weave crown is plain and unremarkable.

I also like the shallow face. It stands apart from non-Ping drivers. It sets up great at address and is plenty hittable.

Sound & Feel: (4) Possibly a little less solid feel than the G440 Max, but not much. Still good sound and feel, and watching the ball explode off the face doesn’t hurt either..

Forgiveness: (5) As much or more than any other driver I’ve tested. Loads and loads and loads.

Distance: (5) A goodly amount. Likely more than you need or deserve.

Flight / Launch: (5) I think it’s the highest launching driver I’ve ever tested. And, without losing distance..

What Makes the Ping G440 K Driver Different?

The K in G440 K stands for one thing: stability. PING built this to be the straightest, most forgiving driver in the lineup, and they got there with a record-setting MOI for any PING driver to date.

That number isn’t marketing fluff—higher MOI means the head resists twisting on off-center hits, so your mishits stay closer to the fairway instead of leaking into the trees.

Two design choices drive that result. First, a carbon crown and carbon sole strip weight from the top and bottom of the head. Second, PING reinvested that saved weight into a 32g adjustable sole weight, pushing the CG lower and deeper for a higher launch and more stability.

You also get ±1.5° of loft adjustability to dial in your launch and spin.

My Experience with The G440 K

As per usual these days, straight to the course with zero practice or swings on the range.

I actually got to warm up for about 10 minutes before my round with the G440 K.

I took 3 swings and hit 3 playable drives. Two of them were pounded. So, I had a little confidence going on the first tee.

Which quickly evaporated when I swung severely over the top and slice the ears off my first drive.

Head held high, I re-tee’d and managed decent contact on my second attempt, sending the ball down the left side of the fairway about 263 yards.

Next tee shot was the second hole. A long par 5. I managed to make better contact and pulled my drive about 3 yards into the left rough at about 268 yards.

I made much better contact with my third drive (about 280 yards), but pushed into a right-side fairway trap.

The fourth drive was the first money drive. Short par 5 with two dog legs. I took dead aim cutting off the first dog leg and nailed it high and straight on my line and was left with about 200 yards to the green – 184 yards to the front.

I pulled a 6-iron ( I was also testing Callaway Quantum Max irons) and pulled it onto the left side of the fairway 30 yards short of the pin. I dropped a second ball and flushed the same six iron high and right of the green, pin high.

The back nine saw drives of 303, 306, and 309 yards. To say I like this driver is a large understatement.

Bottom line – I had to swing egregiously bad to get a bad result with the Ping G440 K.

Who Should Play the Ping G440 K Driver?

ANY golfer who ONLY cares about hitting their drives High, Straight & Far.

Elite golfers who need to bring ball flight down and/or reduce spin should probably avoid the G440 K. (Always test)

Low handicaps (Yes) There’s no shame in putting this driver in your bag if driving is a particular weakness of yours. I only care about scoring and long playable drives help with that a LOT.
Mid handicaps (Yes) This should be the FIRST driver you test before you put your shekels down. .
High handicaps (Yes) See “mid handicaps.”

What Are the Best Alternatives to the Ping G440 K Driver?

Ping G440 Max – SUPERB driver with its own fair share of forgiveness, distance, and help with launch. Do not sleep on this one.

Titleist GT2 – My current most favorite and has been in my bag most of 2025. Explosive distance, a generous sweet spot, and beautiful ball flight. Plus, it’s a gorgeous club.

Callaway Elyte X – Really…really works to keep your drives playable. Add to that a springy face with tons of distance potential. Also, has an adjustable sole weight like the G440 Max.

Final Verdict

The G440 K would be an outstanding driver for the any golfer who has trouble getting off the tee, be they a beginner, high handicapper, mid handicapper, or a low handicap – like myself.

It looks sleek and “player”, but at the same time, it doesn’t intimidate.

• It’s got all the forgiveness you could hope for.
• It gives you all the help with distance.
• It launches high and carries far.
• The adjustable sole weight isn’t just a decoration, it will move your ball flight.

My #1 suggestion is to test it before you buy it.
