This is Golfer Geeks’ review of the Taylormade Stealth irons.

I’m an avid golfer, a 9.2 7ish handicap on my way to a 2 (been a 5.6) and frequent tester of golf clubs and equipment since 2015.

I tested the Stealth irons during a couple range sessions and a round of golf.

Summary: Taylormade Stealth irons are easy to hit and packed with forgiveness and distance. Easy to launch with good trajectory and carry without ballooning and loss of distance or accuracy. Put them on your shortlist if you’re in the market.

In this Taylormade Stealth irons review, I discuss my experience with the clubs, unique features and benefits, as well as customer reviews and potential alternatives.

Taylormade Stealth Irons Overview

Taylormade M5 irons are among the best mid-handicap irons I’ve ever put my hands on.

Stealth irons are an upgraded version of those. They’ve got all the game improvement features you expect from an iron in this category plus the workability and soft feel of more refined irons.

Why Consider Taylormade Stealth Irons

They get the ball up quickly and easily and do not require great contact for great results. Yet, as your game progresses, you’ll be able to play “shots” with them like flighting the ball down or shaping it left or right.

All can be done with Stealth irons. You’ll play them for years and maybe never think of needing to replace them.

Features & Benefits

1) 3D Cap Back Design & Toe Wrap Construction

  • Let Taylormade use a more flexible face and move weight from the toe to deeper in the sole for an extremely low CG (center of gravity). Equals better performance in all aspects: easier to launch, more forgiving, better trajectory, more distance, and better feel.

2) Echo Damping System

  • Creates a forged-like feel by channeling away harsh vibrations with a polymer-blend insert behind the face.

3) Fast Forgiving Face with Progressive Inverted Cone Technology

  • 450 steel face with a sweet spot specifically placed to cover the most common impact points.

4) Thru-slot Speed Pocket

  • Maximizes face flexibility for more ball speed and ads forgiveness on mishits low in the face.

Testing the Taylormade Stealth irons

2 range sessions: I went through the bag during each session and see how they felt, how they launched the ball, trajectory, and carry.

1 round of golf: I want to see how they “play”. I had an idea, and they didn’t disappoint.

My swing was not in great shape for the round, but I stayed around the greens and managed to hit a few. Any and all deficiencies were mine.

My Experience with the Taylormade Stealth irons

I knew they were on the money as soon as I had them in my hands. They reminded of the Taylormade M5s. Impact felt great and ball flight was long, high, and powerful. Nothing not to love.

My swing was not in great shape for the round, but I stayed around the greens and managed to hit a few. Any and all deficiencies were mine.

Review of the Taylormade Stealth Irons

Lone Taylormade Stealth Iron at the range

Looks: B

Taylormade makes great-looking player irons. But, they need to work on the looks of their game improvement irons… Sorry.

They frame the ball well and inspire confidence at address. The heads are a touch oversized (without being bulky) and the topline and soles are a touch thick, just as you expect from the game improvement category.

Sound/ Feel: A

Impact is soft and solid with a pleasing “click” on contact.

Distance: A

All you want. Yes, the lofts are jacked. But, as I’ve explained on this site before: they have to be to control spin and trajectory.

Forgiveness: A

Plenty. They’re hot all over the face and keep you on target.

Flight / Playability: A

They REALLY want to hit the ball high and straight. But, I had zero issues flighting the ball down and working my right to left shot through the bag.

Who are the Taylormade Stealth irons for?

Golfer Geek & Taylormade Stealth Iron Immediate Post Impact

Low Handicap – (Nah). I mean, you can play them. But the heads are probably too big, the topline and sole are too thick, and the offset is too much for your eyes to handle. (The only way to know for sure is to test for yourself)
Mid Handicap – (Yep) Run, don’t walk to get your hands on these irons. They need to at least be on your list to test.
High Handicap – (Yep) I think these will work fine for you. I suggest you test first. As always.
