Iโm an avid golfer, a 7ish handicap on my way to a 2 (been a 5.6) and frequent tester of golf clubs and equipment since 2015.
I spent about 6 hours or so in my two weeks testing and playing the new the Qi35 Max.

Golfers who are just looking for more playable drives. Nothing fancy.
Considerations
Cosmetics are a step down from the Qi10 series. Not a dramatic improvement over the previous Qi10 model’s performance.
Verdict
Great sound and feel as well as ample forgiveness, help with launch, and help with distance.
This is a low stress driver. It works to keep you playable. It’s got explosive distance when you catch it and good distance when you don’t.
You’ll love the Qi35 Max if you don’t mind the cosmetics and can swing the price.

Qi35 Max Review

Launch Monitor #s
- I used range balls for the launch monitor testing.
Club Speed | Ball Speed | Carry Distance | Vertical Launch | Peak Height | Spin |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
99 mph | 154 mph | 255 yds | 12* | 109 ft | 3768 |
On Course #s
Note: We got a 20 minute rain storm just prior to teeing off, plus our area is already wet from near daily rain.
So, yardage was pretty much all carry:
Average drive – 263 yards
Longest drive – 269 yards
Have to say in defense of the Qi35 Max; my driver swing got worse as my round wore on. The Qi35 Max had to save me, and I still got good distance and playable drives.
Bag Appeal: (3) Just ok for me. A step down from the Qi10 series. I’m not a big fan of the head shape. The carbon weave crown looks ok, but not really premium. I like the sole graphics and design. I also like the new clubface color. Helps to frame the ball well.
Sound/ Feel: (5) Really nice, really solid. Up there with the best of the year. Great sensation through the hands on solid shots.
Forgiveness: (4) It covers for a lot and still gets you out there. I wouldn’t a mind movable sole weight to dial that in even more
Distance: (5) All you need even with less than ideal contact. This won’t be the reason you don’t buy this driver
Flight / Launch: (5) It launches high and it stays high. What you want from a max-forgiveness driver.
What Makes the TaylorMade Qi35 Max Driver Different?
The
TaylorMade’s latest face technology delivers serious ball speed across the entire face, while the high MOI design keeps mishits playable.
Launch is high with plenty of peak heightโexactly what struggling drivers need. Sound and feel rank among the best of 2025 with solid impact sensation.
If you own the Qi10 Max, this isn’t a mandatory upgrade. But if you’re coming from an older driver, the performance gains will be noticeable.
The
TaylorMade’s engineers focused on creating the most stable driver head possible through strategic weight distribution and advanced carbon construction.
The result is a driver that delivers 10,000 MOI (moment of inertia) โ meaning your mishits stay remarkably close to your pure strikes in both distance and direction.
The low center of gravity projection ensures you get maximum distance from more areas of the clubface, not just the sweet spot.
Combined with the proven Infinity Carbon Crown and advanced face technology, this creates explosive ball speeds even when contact isn’t perfect.
During testing, what stood out most was how the Qi35 Max handles less-than-ideal swings. Even when I was fighting my driver swing late in the round, it kept me playable and scoring.
The exceptional sound and feel provide confident feedback that lets you know you’ve made solid contact.
If you’re looking for a driver that minimizes the penalty for off-center hits while maximizing distance potential, the Qi35 Max delivers exactly that combination.

My Experience with The Qi35 Max
I first hit the Qi35 Max on mat and net at home. Not ideal because I do not hit driver well with this setup. But, we get near daily rain and the range I used is closed most days.
I was hoping for some type of revelation and break out performance for this testing session, but it was not to be.
The numbers bore no resemblance to what I see on the range, much less on the course – where I do my best driving.
But, I got a chance to at least swing the Qi35 Max and the G440 Max I was also testing at the time.
I finally got the Qi35 to the course a couple of days ago. I hadn’t played in over a month, nor done any range work in weeks.
I had low hopes for my play in general and especially for my driving.
I played the G440 Max on the front 9 and the Qi35 Max on the back 9.
The G440 got the best of my swing, but I managed to still hit some really solid drives with the Qi35.
The first drive was on the 10th hole into a club or so wind. I nailed it 259 yards dead straight on a beautiful trajectory.
I averaged 263 yards for the day on well-struck drives.
I was fighting my driver swing by the time I put the Qi35 Max into play, but it kept me playable and scoring.
I put it on the launch monitor at the range the next day. There were no real fireworks. I hit my standard mix of good, bad, and horrible drives.
Bottom line: Great sound and feel, plus all the distance and help with launch you need. Worth considering if it’s time for you to upgrade.
