Callaway Paradym X Driver Review

This is Golfer Geeks’ Callaway Paradym X driver review.

I’m an avid golfer, an 8ish handicap on my way to a 2 (been a 5.6), and frequent tester of golf clubs and equipment since 2015.

I tested the Paradym during multiple rounds on the course and just a splash of range work before the rounds.

Summary – The Callaway Paradym X is a great driver if you’re a bad driver…or just not a good driver. (I fit both of these categories depending on the day) It’s loaded with forgiveness and distance. Has great sound and feel. And, is the best-looking driver (with the other Paradyms) in the last many years.

In this review of the Callaway Paradym X driver, I discuss my experience with the clubs, unique features and benefits, as well as customer reviews and potential alternatives.

Callaway Paradym X Driver Overview & Why you should Consider It.

The Paradym X is a high launch, high MOI, high max forgiveness, and slight draw-bias driver.

  • I agree with and experienced all of this during my rounds with the Paradym X.

I think it’s ideal for mediocre drivers – like me. And, it doesn’t matter the handicap. I’m mostly a low handicap – especially with irons. But, my driving comes and goes because I get lazy with my driver practice. So, I like forgiving drivers the most.

I’m not trying really trying to shape shots off the tee with my driver. I prefer a draw because that’s what I hit with every other club. But, I’m happy with dead straight and even a slight…very slight fade on occasion.

The Paradym X is my kind of driver and will serve any of you that have regular issues off the tee well.

Paradym X Playing Characteristics (according to Callaway):

  • High launch
  • Mid-Low spin
  • Slight draw bias
  • 460cc head
  • 5g back weight

My Experience with the Paradym X Driver from Callaway

Awesooome. I played 2 rounds with the Paradym X. Both with 20+ mph winds. The Paradym X handled them and then some.

My first drive out of the gate was 302 yards dead center on the 1st hole. It was a medium-low tight draw with a crosswind.

My average driving distance for the day was 278 yards. My longest was 321 yards with at least a two-club wind behind me.

My shortest well-struck (I didn’t mishit) drive was 266 into that 2-club wind.

To say I’m pleased with the Paradym X is an understatement. Put any kind of a decent swing with this driver and you’ll have some shot into the green.

Review of the Callaway Paradym X Driver

Looks (A+) Paradym drivers are The best-looking drivers on the market and the best-looking family of drivers I can remember. Classic head shape paired with my favorite shade of blue and blue accents on the sole and crown. (Must see in person to truly appreciate)

Sound/ Feel (A) Stellar – almost as good as the Mavrik.

Forgiveness (A+) As forgiving as any I’ve tried this year.

Flight / Playability (A) Medium-high launch and trajectory for me and the ball gooooes.

Distance (A+) Hot on center contact – which you’d expect – and nice distance on a large portion of the face thanks to the expanded sweet spot.

Value (A) At $599.99 it’s the same price as virtually every other premium driver.

Who’s the Paradym X driver for?

I guess players with elite speed, high launch, and high spin should look to the other Paradym models. For the rest of us…this is an exceptional driver.

The Paradym should cover the majority of golfers.
The Triple Diamond Paradym covers those elite swingers I mentioned above.

Low handicaps (Yes…unless) – you fight excess spin or launch the ball too high.
Mid handicaps (YES) – Great driver for you.
High handicaps (YES) – Great driver for you too.

Final Verdict on our Callaway Paradym X Driver Review

A superb choice if you have ANY trouble getting off the tee consistently. (This is likely you if you’re reading this – caveats mentioned above)

My #1 suggestion is to test before you buy. Either at your local golf store or take advantage of Global Golf’s Utry trial program. I use it and recommend it.
