I tested the Wellputt START 2.0 for a week. Wellputt makes high… HIGH quality putting mats with excellent putting aids built right into them.
Summary: The START 2.0 putting surface is excellent and it’s fun to use (so you’ll use it more). I LOVE that it has a 3ft, 5ft, and 8ft holes with a scoring lines to see how your golf ball is rolling. It’s a great entry into Wellputt mats or any indoor mat and 100% worth a look if you are serious about putting better.

Wellputt Start 2.0 Overview
The Start 2.0 is an excellent low-mid-price entry into top-quality putting mats. The surface is exceptional – like all Wellputt mats.
The training aids built into it are the bees-fricken-knees. It’s small enough to fit most any room, it rolls up easily, and can be stored in its original box. It’s 10ft long by 1.14 ft.
It’s got 3ft, 5ft, and 8ft holes to putt to and scoring lines on each. I found this cool beyond belief when I started using it. You will WANT to putt on this thing every day.
A mini- Wellstroke is built right into it so you can work just on your putting motion.

You are not going to find a better putting mat for your home for less than $100. You’re just not.

I love the Wellstroke more than words can say. It is awesome and is my #1.a. recommended putting aid behind a top Wellputt mat. It teaches you stroke amplitude – how to masterfully control your distance with a precise backstroke and follow through.
2) Alignment Aids & Scoring Lines
You need to know what a square putter head looks like and you need to know how to set up square.
There’s no better feedback than seeing your ball roll end-over-end on your line. The scoring lines reinforce this and I find it very satisfying.
3) 3ft, 5ft, and 8ft Holes to Putt too
You will bury your buddies on the green if you get good at 3ft, 5ft, & 8ft putts. Don’t doubt me.
Each hole has 1) an alignment line 2) a scoring line 3) a “Good” & “Bad” zone.
4) Good Zone – Bad Zone
Never up Never in – You will learn controlled aggression and speed control by making sure your putts finish past the hole in the “Good Zone” and avoid coming up short – the “Bad Zone”. Crucial for making more putts.
5) Superior Surface w/ 2 Putting Speeds
The surface putts true even with heavy use.
You get the roll and feel of a real green with putting speeds of 10.5 & 11 on the Stimp meter. Think of it as putting down grain and into the grain.

What’s included with your Wellputt Start 2.0 putting mat?
The mat and the box it comes in (KEEP the box for easy storage)
The Wellputt app has a brief explanation of the features of the mat, but doesn’t include specific training for the Start 2.0.
It’s the most straightforward of the Wellputt mats. Meaning, there are 3 holes – with alignment aids and scoring lines to the holes, and a “good” and “bad” zone for each hole.
It’s intuitive and you’ll have no doubt exactly how to use it.
How to fix the rolled-up end of your Wellputt mat:
Roll up your mat with the rubber bottom facing the inside and the putting surface with graphics facing the outside of the roll. In other words, the opposite of the way you pull it out of the box.
Works like a charm.

I’ve read a couple customer reviews on Amazon about this mat being overpriced. Frankly, I think they’re nuts.
The Start 2.0 is a superior mat and training aid.
Who is the Wellputt Start 2.0 putting at for?
Me, for sure. And, anyone that wants to improve their putting.
It’s especially useful if you are new to golf and you want to groove a good stroke and become an expert at putting to and through targets.
Want a larger mat, more variety in targets, and a whole mess of games (over 50 on the app)? The Wellputt 13ft mat may be for you. It cost more, but you get more of the goodness from Wellputt. I have it and use it every day.
The Wellputt 10ft Classic is exactly like the 13ft version, but smaller… obviously. It’s got more variety, and beaucoup games on the Wellputt app. It costs a little less than the 13-footer and may be just right for you.

Don’t hesitate to buy this one if you are in the market for a putting mat.
The Wellputt Start 2.0 offers insane quality for the price, and you will get metric tons of use out of it.
