The Titleist TSR2 Driver is built for golfers seeking high launch, low spin, and reliable forgiveness across the face.

With a refined aerodynamic design and a focus on speed and stability, the TSR2 delivers long, straight drives even on mishits.

It’s especially well-suited for mid- to high-handicap players who want to maximize distance and accuracy without overcomplicating their swing or setup.

With consistent performance and a lower price tag due to its older release cycle, it remains one of the best values on the market.

Takeaways:

• Ball Speed: Nearly identical. The TSR2’s updated numbers (from my original testing last year) show it keeping pace with the GT2.
• Carry Distance: Dead even—both average around 253 yards in testing, making them comparable in distance potential.
• Launch & Peak Height: The 2ft of difference from my testing is insignificant.
• Forgiveness: My misses were treated the same by both clubs.

Overall: Performance is almost indistinguishable between the two.

The GT2 edges out slightly in peak height and visual appeal, but the TSR2 holds its ground impressively—especially considering its price point.

Bag Appeal – GT2

The GT2 has a premium-looking black-on-black finish with a minimal and elegant profile. (My most preferred) It looks great behind the ball at address.

The TSR2 is also good-looking and its head is deeper from front to back.

I prefer the GT2s sole cosmetics.

Sound & Feel – GT2

Both drivers offer premium sound and feel – solid and muted at impact.

However, the GT2 feels a touch more premium and consistent across the face.

Not a deal-breaker, but the GT2 is better.

Distance – Draw…most likely

Launch monitor numbers show these two are neck-and-neck, but I was longer on the course with the GT2 simply because I swung better.

Though it launched higher and carried farther in real-world conditions, I suspect they’re pretty much the same.

Forgiveness – Draw

This one’s a toss-up. Both drivers performed well on mishits and kept the ball in play. If you’re looking for consistency across the face, either option will work.

Ball Flight – Draw

Launch angles, peak height, and carry distance were almost identical. GT2 produced a slightly higher ball flight, but the difference isn’t large enough to declare a clear winner here.

Wallet Damage – TSR2

The GT2 commands a higher price because it’s the newer release. The TSR2 offers nearly the same performance at a discounted rate, making it the better value option in this head-to-head.

GT2 – ~$649 new
TSR2 – ~$449 new

Final Verdict

The Titleist GT2 Driver and TSR2 Driver are basically the same driver. Though, the GT2 is a tad prettier and has a better sound and feel.

Choose the Titleist GT2 if:

• You want a slightly more premium feel and feedback off the face.
• You value aesthetics and want the absolute latest technology in your bag.
• You can’t find the TSR2 in your specs.
• Money is burning a hole in your pocket.

Choose the Titleist TSR2 if:

• You want the same performance for a couple hundred dollars less and you appreciate a premium driver at a bargain price.
• You like money.
