This is our Sun Mountain C-130 cart bag review.

I’m an avid golfer, a 6.5 handicap on my way to a 2 (been a 5.6), and a frequent tester of golf clubs and equipment since 2015.

What Makes the Sun Mountain C-130 Different?

The C-130’s defining trait is redundancy — Sun Mountain doubled up on the features most cart bags include once. Two towel rings. Two glove attachments, one Velcro and one cloth-hook. Two ball-marker slots.

A second set of straps across the back panel to tie the bag down to a cart. As I said above, I’ve never seen this in a bag.

The Smart Strap System is the functional centerpiece. A single strap secures the bag to a cart without crossing the pocket faces, so every pocket stays reachable with the bag locked down. Over a full round on a riding cart, the bag held position with zero movement.

The 14-way divider top is another area where the C-130 separates from other bags I’ve tested. The 14 way full-length dividers are tiered — back rows sit noticeably higher than the rows in front, stadium-style — so each club steps up from the one ahead of it.

C-130 Looks

The C-130 scores a 5 on looks, and the reasons are structural as much as cosmetic.

The bag is symmetrical — the doubled hardware that defines its feature set (two towel rings, two glove attachments, two marker slots) also balances it visually, so the clean silhouette is a byproduct of function, not decoration.

Sun Mountain offers the C-130 in 19 colorways at launch, spanning straight blacks and navies through camos and bolder patterns. The review bag is the Patriot finish.

The result is a cart bag that shows as well as it works — attractive without leaning on gimmicks.

Club Storage – 14-Way Full-Length Dividers with Padded Putter Well

The C-130 runs a 9-inch, 14-way top with individual dividers that run the full length of the bag. Every shaft sits in its own channel from top to bottom, so clubs don’t tangle or rub on the cart ride.

The tiered, stadium-style layout steps each row up from the one ahead of it for clean separation and quick identification.

The putter well is large and padded. It easily fits any putter I’ve seen, including my putter head cover.

Other Storage & Organization – Eleven Pockets

The C-130 had more pockets than you’ll ever need – eleven in total. Three on either side of the bag and five on the front.

• Two apparel compartments
• Velour-lined rangefinder pocket with a magnetic closure
• Insulated cooler pouch
• Zip-off ball pockets.

The rangefinder pocket sits high on the bag for quick access, and the magnetic closure opens and shuts one-handed as designed.

The cooler pouch is deep and usable, and sits without obstructing the pockets that sit below and in front of it.

Strapped to a riding cart, every pocket stayed reachable — the Smart Strap routing keeps the openings clear.

Weight & Portability – 7.6 lbs

At 7.6 pounds, the C-130 sits on the heavier end for cart-bags.

The weight itself isn’t the issue — it’s evenly distributed and never carried as noticeably heavy, even working around a bad shoulder.

Two other things pull the score down.

First, the carry strap. As is out of the box, my bag tipped waaay forward and down loaded with my clubs. Almost lost those babies.

I adjusted the strap and this improved, but not enough for my liking. I had to keep a hand on the front of the bag and tilt it up to keep clubs safely in the bag.

It’s the most common owner complaint, and testing confirmed it. The fix takes a minute, but a bag at this price shouldn’t need it out of the box.

Second, no front handle. A front grab point makes sliding the bag around easy — in a closet, in and out of the trunk, repositioning on a cart — and the C-130 leaves it off.

Luckily, there are plenty places to grab on the front of the bag to help with small adjustments.

Both knocks fade once the bag is strapped to a cart, where it lives. But carrying and handling are part of owning a bag, and here the C-130 is average, not exceptional.

Cart Compatible – Works with All Carts

The C-130 secures to a cart with a single universal strap — Sun Mountain’s Smart Strap System.

My bag didn’t budge a millimeter as far as I could tell during the round. I didn’t have to adjust it once. In fact, I forgot about it.

The back panel adds a second set of tie-down straps. They look robust and built to hold, and on a modern cart whose strap already secures the bag well, they’re redundant.

I imagine they’d be useful on older carts where the strap doesn’t lock down as well.

Build Quality & Durability

Sun Mountain is known for great golf bags, and this C-130 lives up to that. The materials are high end and fit and finish are superb.

Nothing I’ve seen or experienced with this bag makes me worry about it breaking down or failing. Zipper pulls, stitching, accessories are all good to go

Rain Protection

The C-130’s rainhood scores is made form the same material as the bag and to the same exacting standards. I didn’t get much rain during my round, but I got some towards the end.

I threw on the rain hood in a minute or two without issue.

Most manufacturers, even bags I really like, make their rain hoods out of the cheapest material they can get away with. Not the case here.

Value

It’s not an inexpensive bag, but it doesn’t break the bank either. You don’t need all this functionality, but it’s sure nice to have and it’s actually “functional.”

Throw in that its also made very well and beautiful. (I’m betting durable too)

The Stewart Nero 2 is the premium alternative, recently dropped to roughly the same price as the C-130. Tour-grade synthetic leather gives it a more upscale look and hand-feel, alongside 14-way full-length dividers, nine pockets, and a built-in rain cover that deploys from its own compartment. At the same money, the Nero buys looks and materials — it doesn’t match the C-130 on outright function. Pick it if premium feel matters to you more than maximum capability.

Final Verdict: Sun Mountain C-130 Cart Bag

The Sun Mountain C-130 is the highest-scoring cart bag in this lineup and the GolferGeeks Editor’s Pick.

It delivers the best cart-bag functionality in the category: a tiered 14-way full-length divider top with a padded putter well, eleven well-placed pockets, doubled hardware across the board, a Smart Strap that held the bag motionless through a full round, and a premium rainhood.

The one mark against it is the carry strap, which tips forward shouldered as-shipped and needs its lower attachment point moved up. That, plus the missing front handle, is the whole list of complaints and they both go away once you’ve started your round.
