The Stewart Nero 2 is a $320 luxury cart bag that earns every dollar — if you’ve got the money and you want a high-end bag.
I’m an avid golfer of 30 years, a 6.5 handicap on my way to a 2, and frequent tester of golf clubs and equipment since 2015. This is my Stewart Nero 2 Golf Bag review after testing it on the course, at the range, on a trolley, and on a cart.
Quick Take: Same Tour-Grade Synthetic Leather, 14-way full-length dividers, and premium fit and finish as the Nexas Hybrid — but built specifically for riders and electric trolley users. No stand legs. More pockets. Bigger top.
At $320, it’s the most expensive cart bag I’ve tested. It’s also one of the highest-quality.
You don’t need a bag this nice. But if you want one, the Nero 2 delivers.

What Makes the Stewart Nero 2 Cart Bag Different?

Stewart Golf is a UK company best known for high-end electric trolleys — the Q Follow and VERTX Remote being their headliners.
They’ve been at this for 20 years and ship 70% of their carts outside the UK.
The Nero 2 is the cart bag built to sit on top of those trolleys. The keyed base locks it flush.
The dimensions, weight distribution, and pocket placement are all designed around riding rather than carrying.
The standout — same as the Nexas — is the build quality. Tour-Grade Synthetic Leather covers the exterior.
Premium zippers throughout. Tight, even stitching. A polished aluminium clip on the strap.
14-way full-length dividers protect every club. The extra-large putter well swallows oversized grips.
The magnetic front pocket — designed for a rangefinder (but, I put golf balls here, same as every golf bag I use) — is the kind of feature you don’t realize you’d appreciate until you’ve used it.
Currently available in one colorway: black with subtle red Stewart branding.
Looks — Premium Materials with Subtle Stewart Branding

The Nero 2 is a sharp-looking bag.
All-black finish with red Stewart accents remind me of the way Titleist does their irons. Minimal, sleek, but premium.
The synthetic leather is pretty much “leather” as far as I’m concerned. I assumed it was real until I read it wasn’t. (At least when I reviewed the Nexus. By the time I got to the Nero, I was onto them.)
Fit and finish are impeccable. No loose threads. No uneven stitching. The branding badges sit flat and clean.
The only knock here is the single colorway. A tan or oxblood version would be killer.
Club Storage — 14-Way Full-Length Dividers with Extra-Large Putter Well

The Nero 2 features 14-way full-length dividers and a 9.5″ top.
Clubs slide in and out cleanly. No friction. No tangling. The dividers go all the way down so shafts don’t cross or bang into each other.
The padding feels substantial. Better than the cardboard-thin dividers you find in mid-tier bags.
The extra-large putter well is all that and will fit any grip you throw at it.
Other Storage & Organization — 9 Pockets Including the Magnetic Rangefinder Pocket
The Nero 2 has 9 pockets plus the cooler. That’s more than most cart bags and it’s organized intelligently.
Here’s the breakdown:
Magnetic Front Pocket — The Rangefinder Slot

It’s designed for a rangefinder – Again, not what I use it for, but let’s pretend.
The magnetic closure opens one-handed, holds securely, never needs a zipper pull.
Pull rangefinder, shoot the flag, drop it back in. The flap closes itself. Pure function.
Large Insulated Front Pocket

Fits a couple of bottles plus snacks with room to spare. Insulated lining.
I’m not a big cooler-pocket user, so I won’t oversell it — but the space is there and it works as advertised.
One Stewart owner mentioned the cooler felt small to him; I can imagine it fitting a can or two of something and maybe a sandwich.
Two Plush Velour-Lined Valuables Pockets

One on each side. Velour-lined so phones, watches, and sunglasses don’t get scratched. One of those small touches that separates premium bags from mid-tier ones.
Customizable Zipped Front Panel

The front panel zips off entirely. Stewart designed this so you can send it out for custom embroidery — club logo, initials, whatever.
I won’t do it, but it’s a nice “if you want it” option most cart bags don’t offer.
I just put my bulky stuff in there.
Glove & Pencil Holders

Standard fare, well-executed. Two glove holders. Pencil sleeve. Nothing earth-shattering, but everything works.
Full-Length Umbrella Sheath

The umbrella sleeve runs the full length of the bag. My full-size course umbrella fits without fighting.
Weight & Portability — 7 lbs 5 oz and Easy to Move

The Nero 2 weighs 7 lbs 5 oz.
That’s light for a cart bag with this much going on. Plenty of cart bags in this category hit 8-10 lbs.
The 9.5″ top has easy-lift carry handles that work. they’re genuinely helpful whether you’re pulling the bag out of your vehicle in the parking lot. Or, just moving it around in your closet. Basically, you’ve got a muy convenient way to grab the bag and adjust it at your whim.
The padded shoulder strap is comfortable and well balanced. Plenty good for moving it from the car to the cart or the house to the car and back.
Cart Compatibility — Made for Stewart Trolleys, Works on Riding Carts Too

The Nero 2 sat perfectly on the riding cart during my round.
Never had to readjust the strap. Pockets stayed accessible while riding. Bottle holders didn’t shift. The bag stayed planted.
The Keyed Base — What It Actually Does
If you own a Q Follow or VERTX Remote, the keyed base slots onto a specific peg on the trolley. The bag locks into one orientation. Pockets always face the right way. Rangefinder slot is always accessible from the same side. No fiddling.
If you don’t own one — it’s just a base.
Build Quality & Durability — Tour-Grade Synthetic Leather That Holds Up

The Nero 2 is built like a premium product should be built.
Zippers are large, smooth, and rubberized at the pulls. No catching. No sticking. They feel like they’ll last.
Stitching is tight and even throughout. I checked all the high-stress points — strap anchors, top handle, divider tops. No concerns.
The Tour-Grade Synthetic Leather has held up well in my testing. No marks. No scuffs. No spots where it looks worn.
Stewart includes a 1-year warranty. The bag is made in Great Britain, which matters more for quality control than most people realize.
Betting you’ll have it for a good while before needing to replace it. (With sensible use.)
Rain Protection — Built-In Rain Cover

The big upgrade from the original Nero to the Nero 2 is the built-in rain cover.
NOTE: It still has a high-quality tour-grade synthetic leather rain cover for the top of the bag.
It deploys from a dedicated compartment under the large bottom pocket.
Pull it out, stretch it over the top, you’re done. No fumbling for a separate cover you forgot to pack. No hunting for the storage bag it came in.
I haven’t been caught in real rain with it yet — but I did pull it out and drape it over the bag.
Don’t know who thought of this, but kudos to you good sir. I think you’ve got a winner.
The synthetic leather body should also shrug off light rain and morning dew. The built-in cover is for when the sky opens up.
Value
At $399 (now $320), the Nero 2 (and Nexas) is the most expensive cart bag I’ve tested.
For that money, you get:
- Tour-Grade Synthetic Leather construction
- 14-way full-length dividers with extra-large putter well
- 9 pockets including the magnetic rangefinder slot
- Built-in rain cover
- Customizable front panel
- Made-in-Britain build quality
- Designed-for-Stewart-trolleys integration
Is it worth it? Yes…if you’re looking for a premium bag at a premium price.
It looks premium. It feels premium. It’s got features you expect, but made better. And, it’s got features I wouldn’t have thought of in a million years.
Customer Reviews — What Real Owners Are Saying
The Nero 2 has 17 reviews on Stewart’s site — 88% are 5 stars, 6% are 4 stars, 6% are 1 star.(1)
Positive feedback:
The themes that come up over and over: the fit on Stewart’s Q Follow and VERTX trolleys, the magnetic rangefinder pocket, the quality of materials, and the design.
One owner specifically called out the magnetic rangefinder pocket as a smarter choice than a traditional zippered slot.
Another mentioned the ice pack and rain cover combo as a practical, ready-to-go package.
Common themes:
- Perfect fit on Stewart trolleys
- Magnetic rangefinder pocket is a standout
- Premium materials and build quality
- Clean, sharp design
The one critical review:
One owner left a 1-star review — but his complaint was almost entirely about the Q Follow trolley he ordered alongside the bag, not the bag itself. He specifically said the bag fits the trolley great and is a nice bag. The cooler pouch he described as “a little on the small size,” which is fair feedback even if I didn’t share that experience.
