Callaway Rogue ST Pro Irons Review

The Callaway Rogue ST Pro Irons

This is Golfer Geeks' review of the Callaway Rogue ST Pro irons.

I'm an avid golfer, a 9.2 handicap on my way to a 2 (been a 5.6) and frequent tester of golf clubs and equipment since 2015.

I tested the Rogue ST Pro irons during one range session and one round of golf.

Summary: Callaway Rogue ST Pro irons are a dream to hit, hold, and just look at. Everything about them is right. Get your hands on them and hit them... you'll know. All at an unbelievably good price for premium player irons. You need to be testing these if you're in the market.

Callaway Rogue ST Pro Irons Overview

Callaway says the Rogue ST Pro irons are for the low to mid single digit handicap golfer. (Yep, I see that.)

They've got the look of low handicap player irons with ALL Callaway's tech hidden inside a hollow-body design. They pack tons of  forgiveness and distance in a compact player clubhead.

Why Consider the Rogue ST Pro irons

The Rogue ST Pros have check all the boxes players look for and expect:

  • Compact clubhead - Check
  • Thin topline and sole - Check
  • Workable - Check
  • Not too much offset - Check
  • Butter-soft feel - Check

Features & Benefits

1) High Strength 450 A.I. Designed Flash Face Cup
An industry-first, we combined high strength 450 steel with our A.I. designed Flash Face Cup. This delivers more ball speed and better ball speed consistency.

2) New A.I. Face Optimization for Speed, Launch and Spin
Fancy pants artificial intelligence used to dial in loft and spin rate across the face for individual irons. The ball launches and lands better on the greens.

3) Precision Tungsten Weighting for Optimal Launch
Better use of tungsten weighting for better launch and more speed over a bigger area of the face.

4) Patented Urethane Microspheres for Pure Feel
Now moved higher in the face for better sound, feel, and added ball speeds.

5) Compact, Workable Shape
ALL that tech hidden in a compact hollow-body iron. Nothing not to love

Testing the Rogue ST Pro irons

1 range session - I hit a couple buckets and flushed a lot of shots with the ST Pros. I figured they'd hit well and they didn't disappoint. Luckily for me, my swing was good to go during my testing.

1 round of golf - I'd LOVE to play many more rounds with the ST Pros, but all I needed was one to know they are insanely good irons.

My Experience with the Callaway Rogue ST Pro irons

My very first iron shot on the course was a 7-iron into the opening par 5. I hit a high draw right over the flag about 12 feet away for eagle (didn't make it). It couldn't have felt better or been a better result.

Rogue ST Pros are minimal-effort irons. Put a decent swing on it, hit somewhere around the sweet spot and your ball will jump off the face, high into the air, and carry forever. But, they are consistent too, which is crucial for scoring.

The lofts are about a club stronger than my everyday set. I just grabbed one iron less for all my yardages.  So, no surprises once you figure out your lofts.

I would own and play these in a second.

Review of the Callaway Rogue ST Pro Irons

Callaway Rogue ST Pro Iron & Golfer Geek post impact

Looks: A+

I'm smitten. I love the looks of the ST Pros. Compact head. Thinish topline and sole. Beautiful design.

Sound/ Feel: A+

Fantastic. I love the muted "click" at impact and the feel is soft as can be.

Distance: A+

These lofts are jacked, to be sure. But the ST Pros are packed with features making it easy to elevate your ball and get good distance with less than great contact.

Forgiveness: A+

Outstanding for a player iron with a compact clubhead.

Flight / Playability: A+

Any trajectory or shape you want to dial up.

My everyday set. Blades up to 8-iron and hollow-body from 7-iron to 4-iron. Not player "performance" clubs, but plenty long and forgiveness where you need it. Bargain pricing too. Check out the demo program.

Ping's version of player performance irons. Strong lofts for more distance. Slightly bigger clubheads for added forgiveness and help getting the ball airborne. Worth a look.

The i59s play more like regular blades. Though, you can get stronger lofts for help with distance. Great irons. Just don't expect as much help as with the Rogue ST Pros.

Our Verdict

Callaway Rogue ST Pro irons are my favorite clubs I've tested this year. They've got everything I love and at a decent price.
