This is our Datrek Lite Rider 2.0 cart bag review.

I’m an avid golfer, a 6ish handicap, and a frequent tester of golf clubs and equipment since 2015.

Quick Take: The Datrek Lite Rider 2.0 is a solid, attractive, and well-organized cart bag with plenty of storage at a fair price.

  • It’s got 14-way full length dividers.
  • Nine pockets give you room for everything you carry, including a dedicated insulated cooler pocket and two fleece-lined waterproof valuables pockets.

It’s also Top-Lok compatible so it pairs well with all Bag Boy push carts.

Styling is the best I’ve seen from a Datrek — particularly in the Sand colorway.

Best For

Golfers who want a cart bag with:

  • 14-way full length dividers
  • Ample, smartly arranged storage.
  • Clean styling and solid construction with quality materials.
  • Don’t want to pay premium pricing for all this.

Considerations

No dedicated ball marker slot.

Smaller velcro glove patch than some competitors (though I rarely use them anyway).

Verdict

The Datrek Lite Rider 2.0 is a well-rounded cart bag that does all the important things well.

The 14-way full-length dividers are properly aligned, the nine pockets cover every storage need, and the Top-Lok system locks it tight to a Bag Boy push cart.

Build quality is consistent with what I’ve come to expect from Datrek — solid fit and finish, dependable materials, no flimsy spots.

Minor misses — no marker slot, average rain protection, small glove patch — aren’t deal-breakers.

Bottom line: A reliable, attractive, well-built cart bag at a price that makes sense.

What Makes the Datrek Lite Rider 2.0 Different?

No single feature jumps off the page — it’s the package that sells the bag.

The 14-way top with full-length Individual Divider System (IDS) keeps every club separated and protected.

You also get nine total pockets, including the insulated cooler pocket and two fleece-lined, waterproof, heat-sealed (I’m not positive what this means are the value it adds) valuables pockets.

The rubberized putter well fits any grip size, and Top-Lok technology locks the bag securely to Bag Boy push carts.

The Lite Rider 2.0 sits a step above the DG Lite III in the lineup — more storage, better styling, — for ~$30 more.

Compared to its closest sibling — the Bag Boy Chiller Pro at the same price — the Lite Rider 2.0 trades a couple of features for a different aesthetic and similar overall performance.

Lite Rider 2.0 Looks

Datrek Lite Rider 2.0 bag

The Lite Rider 2.0 is available in five colorways: Black, Charcoal/Black/Red, Silver/Charcoal/Red, Sand/Black/Red, and Black/Charcoal/Royal.

This is the best-looking Datrek I’ve tested.

The Sand/Black/Red colorway is my personal favorite — clean, modern, and easy on the eyes.

Fit and finish are good.

Club Storage – 14-Way Full-Length Dividers with Rubberized Putter Well

Datrek Lite Rider 2.0 Cart Golf bag 14-way divider

The Lite Rider 2.0 uses a 14-way top with full-length IDS dividers — meaning every club gets its own dedicated channel from top to bottom of the bag.

Club slots are aligned for easy organization – a pet peeve of mine.

The rubberized putter well sits up top where it should. It’s big enough to handle any oversized grip without looking cartoonish, and the rubber lining is a clean detail.

I’m a sucker for a quality 14-way divider top with full length dividers and the Lite Rider 2.0 does a more than adequate job.

Other Storage & Organization – Nine Pockets

The Lite Rider 2.0 has nine pockets — three on the front and three on each side.

The front layout includes an insulated cooler pocket in the middle, flanked by two additional storage pockets.

The cooler pocket fits a few cans plus a snack or two — enough for a round in the Houston heat.

Each side has a fleece-lined, waterproof, heat-sealed (again, not sure what this means) valuables pocket plus a large apparel pocket and a smaller secondary pocket.

The waterproof valuables pockets are functional but nothing exceptional — most decent golf bags include something similar.

The cart strap pass-through keeps everything accessible when the bag is strapped down — no pockets blocked, no awkward reaching.

The one (minor) miss: no dedicated ball marker slot on the top of the bag.

Fleece-lined waterproof valuables pocket — Plenty big. Keys, wallet, hand powder. Same setup I use in every bag.

Weight & Portability – 5.5 lbs

Datrek Lite Rider 2.0 back side

At 5.5 lbs, the Lite Rider 2.0 is light enough to handle easily but not the lightest cart bag on the market.

In hand, it feels light. Loading it in and out of the trunk or onto a cart is a non-issue.

The rubberized lift-assist handles are well-placed and easy to grab — even with a fully loaded bag. The single shoulder strap does what it needs to do for short carries from the parking lot to the cart.

Nothing here is exceptional, but nothing needs improvement either.

Cart Compatible – Works with All Carts

On a riding cart, the Lite Rider 2.0 sits stable and straps in without fuss. Standard performance — no surprises.

On a push cart with Top-Lok, the bag locks in tight. No shifting, no twisting. If you’re running a Bag Boy push cart, this is exactly what you want.

The cart strap pass-through works as advertised — the bag stays secure and every pocket stays accessible.

Cart compatibility is one of this bag’s strongest categories.

Build Quality & Durability — Solid So Far

Fit and finish are good to go — consistent with what I’ve come to expect from Datrek bags.

Zippers run smoothly, zipper pulls are easy to grab, seams are tight, and the materials feel like they’re built to handle regular use.

With normal care, this bag should hold up well over multiple seasons. I see no obvious weak points.

Rain Protection — Minimal, but it’s there

A rain hood exists, but, it’s an afterthought. Like every other Bag Boy or Datrek bag I’ve tested. I suspect it will do a good enough job like the others.

Lite Rider 2.0 Value

The Datrek Lite Rider 2.0 retails at $229.95 at bagboy.com (Remember, you get a 10% discount with code: GG10)

That puts it $30 above the DG Lite III ($199) and dead even with the Bag Boy Chiller Pro ($229.95).

Here’s how the value math shakes out:

  • DG Lite III ($199) — less bag for less money. Good enough if you want basic 14-way organization on a budget.
  • Lite Rider 2.0 ($229.95) — more storage, cleaner divider layout, better styling. The extra $30 is justified.
  • Bag Boy Chiller Pro ($229.95) — more bag with a couple of additional features. Different design aesthetic.

The Lite Rider 2.0 and Chiller Pro both get the important things right. The choice between them comes down to design preference more than feature set.

For golfers who want a well-rounded cart bag without paying $300+, the Lite Rider 2.0 delivers.

Customer Reviews – What Real Owners Are Saying

Too early to tell — this is a new 2026 model and review volume is still light.(1)

What Are the Best Alternatives to the Datrek Lite Rider 2.0?

Bag Boy Chiller Pro – Most Direct Competitor

Same $229.95 price point. More storage, a couple of additional features, and a different design aesthetic. If you don’t have a strong styling preference, the Chiller Pro is the slightly more feature-rich choice.

Datrek DG Lite III – Budget Step-Down

$199 retail. Less bag, but solid construction and 14-way dividers. Good option if you want Datrek build quality at a lower price and don’t need the extra storage.

This is the Toyota Camry or Honda Accord of cart bags.
