This is our Bag Boy SB-100 Stand Bag review.
I’m an avid golfer of 30 years, a 6.5 handicap, and I’ve been testing golf bags and equipment since 2015.
Caveat to this review: I’m Hardcore No Less Than 14-Way Full Length Dividers.
Quick Take: The Bag Boy SB-100 is an excellent option if you’re into minimal-but-functional, lightweight, and gorgeous bags.
It’s especially for you if you like to travel light, don’t need much storage, and prefer 5-way tops.

Best For
Golfers who:
- Want a light bag.
- Don’t mind — or prefer — 5 and/or 7-way tops
- Appreciate clean, understated yet elegant looks.
- Carry the bare minimum to the course
Considerations
5-way top (no full-length dividers — clubs will tangle)
Five pockets total — limited storage for everyday use
$199.95 feels a touch high for what you get. (That may be an old way of thinking)
Verdict
A genuinely good-looking, lightweight carry bag.
If you’re the right golfer for it, you’ll love it — the four 5-star reviews on Bag Boy’s product page back that up.
If you want more dividers or more storage, look elsewhere. Including in the Bag Boy lineup.
Where To Get Yours
- Gorgeous - Sleek, minimal, elegant
- Lightweight
- Comfortable straps
- Top-Lok compatible
- Buyers love it so far
- Maybe a touch expensive for such a minimal bag
- Not much extra storage
Looks — Made me almost consider a 5-way

The Sand colorway is my most favorite, but all color options look good.
Lean. Slender. Elegant.
The hex-weave polyester fabric is neutral in the best way — it doesn’t jump out the way Tour Grade Synthetic Leather does on a premium bag, but it doesn’t look cheap either.
One owner on Bag Boy’s site mentioned the subtle branding as a feature, and I’d agree.
No loose threads. No uneven stitching.
If looks alone sold a bag, they couldn’t keep this bad boy in stock.
Club Storage

Full Disclosure: I don’t like 5- or 7-way tops. I strongly prefer 14- and 15-way bags with full-length dividers.
I do my best to be fair for those that do prefer this design.
What you get:
- 5 openings at the top
- No dedicated putter slot
- No full-length dividers
In practice, clubs tangle. Grips bunch. You learn the dance of pulling a club out cleanly. This is true of every 5-way top, not just this one.
You’ve already factored this in if you prefer these club dividers.
A few notes:
- Oversized putter grip? No issues fitting it
- Driver fit? Yes, no problem
- Pulling clubs? Same friction as any 5-way
A dissenting opinion from a reviewer on Bag Boy’s website.
- Josh N — one of the verified reviewers on Bag Boy’s product page — called this “the best 5-way divider on the market” and specifically noted that he carries a lot of hybrids and fairway woods with zero problems fitting everything or pulling clubs cleanly.
If you’ve carried 5-way bags for years and love them, the SB-100 will likely work fine for you the same way it did for him.

Other Storage & Organization — Five Pockets, Minimal by Design
The SB-100 has five zippered pockets. Here’s how I set mine up:
Ball pocket — Standard placement, top of the back. Easy to grab, holds plenty. Just works.

Fleece-lined waterproof valuables pocket — Plenty big. Keys, wallet, hand powder. Same setup I run in every bag.

Insulated cooler pocket — Fits a water bottle. Could fit two or three cans. Insulation feels fine — not heavily padded, but enough to keep something cold for a few holes.

Apparel pocket — Smaller than what you’d expect from a “large” pocket on a bigger bag. But, I guess it goes with the theme of this bag.
Tee/accessory pocket — Integrated tee storage works as advertised.
What’s missing if you’re used to a loaded bag:
- No magnetic bottle holders
- No dedicated glove clip
- Limited room for a rain jacket plus everything else
That’s the minimalist design at work. Not a flaw — a choice.
Owner feedback is positive here.
Multiple reviewers on the product page mentioned five pockets feeling like the right amount for what they actually carry, with one specifically calling out having dedicated spots for a rangefinder, rain gear, and balls without the bag feeling cluttered.
For a walker who travels light, a range bag, or a quick-9 setup? Plenty.

Weight & Portability — This Is Where the SB-100 Earns Its Money

At 4.5 pounds, the SB-100 is genuinely light. Pick it up and you feel it immediately.
One owner said he wasn’t even sure there was a bag in the shipping box when it arrived. I get it.
Double strap — Comfortable, padded enough, sits well across the shoulders. I’d walk 18 with it without thinking twice.
Strap adjustment — Easy. No fiddling.
Hip pad — Does its job. As good as any I’ve used.
Stand deploy/retract — Pretty smooth. The mechanism isn’t super robust. You’ll need to apply extra pressure, especially when the bag is empty.
Cart Compatible — Top-Lok Works, Strap Stays Put
Works fine if you ride, like most bags these days. The Top-Lok system works perfectly with Bag Boy push carts.
Build Quality & Durability — Solid So Far
Seems fine with the minimal use I put it through.
- Zippers — All smooth, no sticking
- Stitching — Clean
- Hex-weave fabric — No pilling, fraying, or marks
- Stand legs — Sturdy
- Plastic components — Good to go. No issues noted.
Owner feedback is consistent on this point.
Multiple reviewers called out the build quality and durability as feeling top-notch, with one specifically noting how sturdy the bag feels for something this light.
I tend to take care of my stuff. I’ve no doubt it would last years without issue for me.
But, can’t say for sure from personal experience.
Rain Protection — Minimal, but it’s there
The rain hood is included. I put it on once. It’s basic — nothing special, very minimal.
Overall, nothing extra or out of the ordinary to report.
Value — $200 Feels a Touch High
(But, good bags seem to cost right around this these days.)
At $199.95, the SB-100 sits in the middle of the carry-bag market.
For the way I use bags, I want more storage and I definitely want better club organization.
The reviewers on Bag Boy’s product page consistently rated the value at 5 out of 5.
So clearly the bag delivers for its target buyer.
Who Should Buy the Bag Boy SB-100?
If you value lean and light and don’t mind a great looking bag, the SB-100 may be the bag for you.
You should consider it if:
- You walk most of your rounds and want every ounce off your shoulders
- You prefer — or don’t mind — 5- or 7-way tops
- You like a clean, understated look (the Sand colorway especially)
- You carry minimal gear to the course
- You want Top-Lok integration with a Bag Boy push cart
You should skip it if:
- You strongly prefer 14- or 15-way tops with full-length dividers
- You carry a lot of gear (rangefinder, multiple gloves, layers, snacks)
- You ride 90%+ of your rounds — a hybrid or cart bag gives you more for the same money
- You want premium materials at this price point
Best Alternative — Bag Boy HB-100 Hybrid
Note: I haven’t tested this one yet, but I really like the looks of it.
If you like the 100 Series styling but want more dividers and pockets, the HB-100 Hybrid is the move at the same $199.95.
What you get:
- 14-way top with proper club organization
- 7 pockets instead of 5
- 5 lbs — still light, half a pound heavier
- Same Top-Lok system and hex-weave fabric
For golfers who want hybrid versatility — carry sometimes, cart most of the time — the Chiller Pro Cart bag is the smarter buy. The SB-100 is the pure walker’s option.
Bag Boy SB-100 Final Verdict

The Bag Boy SB-100 is a great-looking, genuinely light carry bag built for a specific golfer – You know who you are.
To recap…
The good:
- Lean, sharp design — especially in Sand
- 4.5 pounds, easy on the shoulders for full 18-hole walks
- Comfortable double strap and hip pad
- Top-Lok compatible
- Clean build, smooth zippers, no quality red flags
- Strong owner reviews backing all of the above
The not-so-good:
- 5-way top means tangled clubs (true of every 5-way)
- Five pockets is minimal — not an everyday bag for golfers who carry a lot
- $200 feels a touch high for what you get
Would I buy it? No. 5-way tops are a deal breaker and I prefer more storage.
The four owners who’ve left reviews on Bag Boy’s product page disagree — all 5 stars, all recommending the bag.
If you’re a walker who values weight over storage, prefers a clean 5-way top, and wants a bag that looks sharp, the SB-100 is a legitimate pick.
Buy the bag that fits how you actually play. For the right golfer, that’s this one.
