3balls.com is merging with Globalgolf.com to offer an even better online golf shopping experience.

I’ve been a looong-time customer of both websites, probably going back to the mid or late 2000’s.

The merger with Global Golf opens up the buying experience and variety for 3balls’ customers.

Below is an overview of what you can expect to find at Global Golf.

GlobalGolf Overview

The late 1990s saw a boom in golf (wonder if TW had anything to to do with that). Manufacturers were putting out tons of new equipment every year and local retailers started taking trade-ins to get these new clubs in golfer’s hands.

The problem was that there wasn’t an easy way to get rid of preowned golf equipment in volume. 

Ed Byman, who had been in the golf industry since 1974, saw an opportunity. He launched Global Golf in 2001 (with the help of many industry pros) to provide a marketplace to sell used golf equipment. Global Golf quickly became the leading preowned golf equipment online seller online (well, on Ebay). 

He launched globalgolf.com in 2006. The business model stayed the same. Be a marketplace for buying and selling used golf equipment. Today, Global Golf sells all major golf brands. New and used equipment can be bought side by side. 

They also sell tons of golf accessories and have in-house PGA professionals to answer your equipment or golf-related questions so you pick out the best gear for you. 

They have shipping locations in Raleigh, N.C. (also headquarters), Salt Lake City, Utah, and Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. Their retail location is in Greensboro, N.C. 

Global Golf Programs

U-Try

By FAR my favorite program Global Golf runs. I’ve been taking advantage of it for years…to the benefit of Golfer Geeks readers and myself.

It’s simple, select a club or piece of golf tech you’re thinking of buying (that’s also available in the Utry program), pay a fee, and test it for 2 weeks. You can either keep it and pay the full amount or return it on them when your 2 weeks are up – postage is prepaid by Global Golf.

The one issue is you don’t get full customization options when going through Utry. This may work out great and you get the club with the specs you like. Or not, and you have to return it and go through ordering another club(s) through the website.

Either way. The cost ends up being the same. Just a slight inconvenience to return the club you have for the ideal club you just ordered. 

In the process of using this service as i’m writing this. 

Utrade-in

I’ve used this one a few times over the years (trading in clubs right now for a new driver). Again, Global Golf are pros and make this as painless as possible. 

Go here and choose the club(s) and/or golf tech you want to trade in. They walk you all the way through the process, including picking out the thing you want to trade in for. 

You can already guess you won’t be getting top dollar. This is about speed and convenience. But, the prices are fair enough considering they have to turn around and sell it to try to make money off of it. 

Otherwise, its a fairly bad business model for them. 

Uselect

The PGA professionals at Global Golf created USelect to help you choose the best golf equipment or accessory for your game.

Choose from one of eight categories and go through their brief questionnaire. Then, they give you from a couple to a couple pages of recommendations.

1. Golf clubs
2. Golf balls
3. Putters
4. Golf bags
5. Golf gloves
6. Wedges
7. Tech
8. Golf shoes

I find the picks pretty solid for all categories except for “Golf Clubs”. The results don’t seem to correlate to the answers to the questions. 

Uperks

You get “Global Golf Cash” for spending money with them. 

This is another program I’ve taken advantage of repeatedly over the years. No, I don’t buy anything or plan anything around Uperks. I see it as an announced, yet unexpected, bonus. (That doesn’t make a lot of sense, I know)

I’m saying I don’t notice Uperks until I check out and I’m prompted to use the perks (money) I’ve accumulated. 

This ads up pretty well considering I’m a frequent customer of theirs.

My Experience With Global Golf

I’ve been shopping with Global Golf for 10 years or more and almost exclusively – at least for golf clubs – for about 5 years. 

Taylormadegolfpreowned.com merged with globalgolf.com somewhere along the way and GlobalGolf quickly became my favorite.

Why?

1. They are ALWAYS running coupons or deals on the best clubs on the market.
2. They ship and deliver fast.
3. They will work with you to resolve any issues. 
4. They’re a company filled with golfers. So, they “know” us. 

Global Golf is also where I send most of my readers these days because of the reasons above.
