Taylormade Tour Response vs Bridgestone Tour B Golf Balls

The Taylromade Tour Response Golf Balls vs Bridgestone Tour B RXS Golf Balls

Thanks for checking out our comparison of Taylormade Tour Response vs Bridgestone Tour B RXS golf balls.

I’m an avid golfer, a 9.2 7 handicap on my way to a 2 (been a 5.6) and frequent tester of golf clubs and equipment since 2015.

I’ve been playing the Bridgestone Tour B RXS & Taylormade Tour Response golf balls for a little over a month. I’ve played around 8 to 10 rounds and practiced on and around the green 4 to 5 times.

Summary – Differences between the Tour B and Tour Response are negligible to me. I pulled the same clubs for the same shots from tee to green and got the similar/same results. The average or slightly above average golfer could put either of these in play tomorrow and not skip a beat.

Note: The greens at my course are soft, slow, and receptive. I may have noticed more of a difference on hard greens Stimping 10 and above.

Tour Response vs Tour B RXS

Taylormade Tour Response Golf Balls

Taylormade Tour Response golf balls are built to give you tour-level (almost) performance, with similar soft feel, but about $10 less per dozen.

They have urethane covers (just like premium balls), but are 3-piece (like cheaper balls). They’re 70-compression Hi-Spring core. 70-compression is needed for soft feel and the Hi-Spring core is needed for ball speed to compensate for the soft compression core.

Bridgestone Tour B RXS are straight-up premium golf balls designed for swing speeds under 105 mph. (slower swing speeds)

They have Bridgestone’s new “Reactive IQ” “smart” cover that reacts to the force of impact – either from your driver or your wedge. So, it rebounds quicker for longer tee shots and stays on the face longer for more spin off your wedges and approach shots. Plus, it has soft feel around the green

It’s got dimples in its dimples – “Dual Dimple” technology. Bridgestone says this makes them more aerodynamic and efficient.

My Experience with Taylormade Tour Response & Bridgestone Tour B RXS golf balls

I spent a lot of time on and around the practice green and on the course with both balls. I scored well with both of them too. They react virtually identical off irons and driver. Could maybe pick out differences if I put them on a launch monitor, but I didn’t (at least not yet).

Playing where I play – a course with soft, receptive and slow greens – I could put either ball into play without a concern and be plenty happy.

If I regularly played a course with semi-fast to fast greens, I’d pick the Tour B RXS. When in doubt, I want softer feel and more spin.

Looks

It’s a little hard to tell from images on this page, but Tour Response balls looks more premium than Bridgestone Tour B RXS balls.

They’re whiter. The graphics and typography are cleaner. And, the dimples are less busy. (Remember the dimple in a dimple design of the Tour B RXS)

Winner – Taylormade Tour Response

Feel

Tour B RXS balls feel ever-so-slightly softer than Tour Response golf balls. Exactly what I’d expect from a premium ball.

The Tour Response feels great and reacts well off the clubface, it’s just not quite there with the Tour B RXS.

Winner – Bridgestone Tour B RXS

Ball Flight

I got the same trajectory from both balls. At least close enough that I couldn’t tell the difference.

My stock shot is a high draw with my irons and a medium high slight draw to push with driver. My iron shots were basically identical and my driving is too erratic to draw a strong conclusion.

Winner – Push

Distance

Well-struck shots with my irons were equal as far as I could tell. Nothing jumped out to me. Same with driver. No glaring differences.

Winner – Push

Control

The Tour B RXS checked more off the wedge around the green and felt a touch softer and seemed to stay on the clubface a little bit longer.

Tour Response balls performed well around the greens too, just not quite as well.

Winner – Tour B RXS

Conclusion of Taylormade Tour Response Golf Balls vs Bridgestone Tour B RXS

Which golf ball would I choose?

A lot of this is personal preference, skill level, conditions you normally play in.

For instance – I’m a 7 handicap and I play 99% of my golf on soft, slow, and receptive greens (as I’ve stated a couple times already).

So, I’d be happy to play the Tour Response every day.

I’d switch to the Tour B RXS if I played harder, faster greens. No question.

Which ball should you choose?

Play on hard, fast greens? I’d go with Bridgestone Tour B RXS.
Play on slower, more receptive greens? I’d go with he Tour Response.
