I had never heard of the Down Under Board. It was nowhere in my sight.
A friend of mine sent me a text with a link to their website and suggested I get in touch with them to review it for Golfer Geeks...So I did.
But I checked it out first.
I learned that Bradley Hughes was the creator. He's got a bunch of videos on YouTube showing how to use the board and other and other golf tips.
He is a former PGA Tour pro with a list of wins in Australia, that he has competed in all the major tours around the world, and that he's played in all four majors. He's also a teaching pro to the pros and has worked with some of the top names in the game.
He's also got a list of professional tour golfers with names you would recognize that use the DownUnder board too. (Brandt Snedeker, Brendon Todd, Harold Varner, Christina Kim, Russel Knox, etc.)
So, I'm thinking this device is legit and I have a decent understanding of the concept of what it is supposed to do. At least enough to say I believe there's some value in it.
I reach out to them and hop on a call with their CEO. A really nice guy and he explains his experience with the DUB, Bradley, and go's into the concepts a little deeper. Dan (the CEO) was a student of Bradley's before they formed the company.
Long story, long. I got the board in and I'm 3 range sessions deep and seeing positive results.
- Simple, simple concept.
- Simple is good
- The board is some type of acrylic. It's light, but solidly built.
- Bradley's instruction videos are needed to maximize results
- Works well with chipping and pitching
- Need to use it more with putting
I'm not ready for the final review, but it won't take too much longer.
