The soles are rounded and have extra bounce to help high handicappers or anyone that has issues with hitting chips or any short game shot fat. The extra bounce and rounded soles are made to “bounce” off the ground instead of dig into it. This helps the club slide into the ball and will save many a chip or pitch.
They’ve got the JAWS grooves so you can expect shot-stopping spin and the cavity back design with lower CG helps you get good results on a bigger portion of the face. You don’t need perfect contact. It’s also got more offset to give you more time to square the face for more accuracy.

The Callaway MD5s are one of the most popular and well-reviewed wedge lines in 2021. They excel in all parts of the short game.
They are supremely versatile with multiple grinds to suit every swing type and playing condition. I like the W-grind for those who have issues with solid contact on their chips. Especially from hitting it fat. The W-grind has a wider sole in the center and to area along with heel relief to help prevent digging.
The MD5s also have some of the most aggressive and best grooving in the wedge game. This is thanks to JAWS and Offset Groove-in-groove technology.
