This is our review of the Best Callaway drivers in 2024.
I’m an avid golfer, an 8ish handicap on my way to a 2 (been a 5.6), and frequent tester of golf clubs and equipment since 2015.
I’ve tested and played all Callaway drivers on the market over the last year. Some suit my game well and some not so well.
In this best Callaway drivers review, I discuss my experience with each driver, unique features and benefits, my favorite of the bunch, and which driver I think serves which golfer.

The new Paradym Ai Smoke Max driver is our new #1 recommendation for the best Callaway drivers.
What we like:
- Crazy hot with a generous sweet spot(s).
- Love the adjustable weight in the sole for dialing in errant drives.
- Sits well at address with a pleasing head shape.
What we don’t like:
- The sound and feel are not as good as the original Paradym drivers.
- Prefer the cosmetics of original Paradyms.
Our new chief tester, Wes, prefers the Ai Smoke Max over last year’s Paradym. He thinks the Ai Smoke is better on mishits – better forgiveness, better feel, and better distance.
I played 2 – 3 rounds with the Ai Smoke Max, switching it out with the Qi10 Max (and the Darkspeeds – reviews coming soon).
I began by pull-hooking the Smoke Max off the planet. Once I sequenced my swing better and moved the sole weight just past neutral toward fade, I began blistering drives and ending up with playable misses – the occasional push and pull.
It’s not a significant upgrade over the Paradym from last year, but it is an upgrade.

- It’s got a large generous sweet spot for loads of forgiveness and distance.
- It keeps you in play when you aren’t swinging your best.
- Superb sound & feel – reminiscent of the Mavrik driver from a couple years ago (the gold standard) and improved over the Rogue ST Max drivers from last year.
- THE best looking driver I’ve seen in years.
The Paradym is a joy to hit and turns my mediocre swings into fairways hit or at least a decent shot into the green. Which, is all I ask of a driver.
My driver swing has been more sporadic this year than last, so I really need help off the tee. When I manage a good swing, the Paradym sends it. When not so good, I still have a play into the green.
It didn’t save my worst swings, but that’s not reasonable.

The new Paradym X driver is my favorite Callaway driver and the most forgiving Callaway driver.
- Largest sweet spot in the Callaway driver lineup.
- Superb distance on center contact and great distance with minor mishits.
- Superb sound & feel (just like the Paradym)
- THE best looking driver I’ve seen in years (also just like he Paradym).
The Paradym X is the Paradym but with more distance away from the sweet spot. I really enjoy playing and hitting the Paradym. But, I enjoy the Paradym X even more because it’s a touch more forgiving.
I hit some truly great and beautiful drives with the Paradym X during my round with it. I think it’s an exceptional driver for those of us that are mediocre off the tee.

Callaway Rogue ST Max D Driver

The Rogue ST Max D driver is a favorite of mine and is on our list of best Callaway drivers for a couple of reasons.
- Consistently easy-to-hit drives straight or with a slight draw – my preferred.
- Good distance & accuracy without center contact.
- Great feel & sound.
I’m a natural drawer of the ball with irons and fairway woods. I prefer a draw with my driver too, but that’s not always easy. So, I was curious to see what the Max D would do for me.
I played 3 rounds with the Rogue ST Max D. My swing was sideways for the first 2. I’m already an inconsistent driver, but this was worse. I was determined to give the Max D another try – Glad I did.
My swing was good to go and hitting the Max D was glorious. Long high draws. Long straight shots. Long slight pushes. Never a snap hook or close to it.

Sound/ Feel (A) Solid and muted at impact. Just the way I love it. Reminds me of the Mavrik driver, but not quite as awesome.
Distance (A) Plenty – It’s as long as you would expect over a large part of the face. You don’t need perfect impact. I sure didn’t.
Forgiveness (A) Loads of it. It fought hard to keep my marginal swings in play and gave me a nice distance boost too.
Flight / Accuracy (A) I hit high piercing draws once I got my swing back. My natural shape is a draw, so I expect to see one. I didn’t suffer from over hooking or too much draw at any point with decent swings.
Customer Reviews: 92% of reviewers would recommend the Callaway Rogue ST Max D. (That number should be 98% or more. Some reviewers said all positive things, then gave 4-stars. Or, hadn’t hit the club, but gave it 4 stars. WIERD)
Recommendation: Don’t sleep on the Max D. It ain’t only for beginners or high handicaps.

The Callaway Rogue ST Max is the next driver on our list of the best Callaway drivers because does a few things well:
- Easy to hit and works hard to keep drives playable.
- Plenty long.
- Nice sound and solid feel on impact.
Callaway has produced killer drivers since the intro of the original Rouge in 2018 or so. The Rogue ST Max has a lot of that DNA but is more forgiving, easier to hit, and longer.
I hit a ton of rockets during testing and dispersion was outstanding for me. Not normally my strong suit.
You don’t need center contact for good results. I consistently hit off-center shots toward the toe and got more than enough distance and a shot at the green. That’s all I ask of a driver.

Callaway Rogue ST Max LS Driver

The Callaway Rogue ST Max LS is the best Callaway driver for golfers with faster swing speeds. Say, 110mph and above.
I couldn’t make it work for me. But, that’s on me. It does exactly what it’s designed to do.
- Hit the ball long and hot
- Lower launch with lower spin
- Great sound and feel at impact
- Not particularly forgiving compared to the Max and Max D
I had to strain to hit good drives and I don’t like straining. Driving isn’t my strength, so I want forgiveness and easy launch with good distance.

Verdict: Not for the average golfer with average or just-above-average swing speed. You’ve got better options.
Verdict on the Best Callaway Drivers in 2024
Callaway has something for every handicap and a couple of options within each handicap range.
The new Paradym line of drivers are an upgrade over last year’s Rogue line, but the Rogues are still worth considering. Especially since deals are now available.
Our #1 suggestion is to test before you buy. Either at your local golf store or take advantage of Global Golf’s Utry trial program. I use it and recommend it.
